I'd like to propagate my lucky bamboos. I bought it when it was a foot or more long but it has only a couple of leaves showing at the top. I bought 2 of them and put them in a clear vase (i know it can grow algae in there) Where should i cut it? Which ring should i cut? Should i wait a little longer for the leaves to grow at the sides? What should i do after i cut it? Will it grow? Here is the pics of the plants : http://yfrog.com/bbimg00095200907252156jx Oh, BTW, the roots in my bamboos is a bit brownish and i don't really know what to do since i'm a beginner... =D Please tell me everything i have to know for taking care of Lucky Bamboos Thanks for answering my question! Have a great day!
Hola. Lucky bamboo is actually a type of grass that grows in southern asia. So you have to treat it like grass, not bamboo. If the roots are brown that means it isn't getting enough nutrients in the water including oxygen. You could hack away a lucky bamboo and it will always grow new growth at the nodes. Its just what it does. You can also trick parts of the grass to start growing roots just by places in them in water. So very hard to kill this plant, you just enjoy it and don't over love it.
