The first thing you need to think about is how much weather proofing the bar still will provide. You may think that just because you live in an arid environment that weather proofing should not be a consideration, but this is a mistake. The light from the sun has energy in it and over time it can totally break down the chemicals bonds that hold together wood, some plastics, and other organic products. Only stools with metal frames can withstand this type of attack. Also, I am sure you are thinking you need a material that will resist water damage and corrosion, and this thinking is correct. Again, only metal frames like stainless steel or aluminum will offer protection against rust and water damage.
For sure, the biggest threat to damaging your outdoor bars stools is from moisture. If you buy inferior brands that are constructed of lower quality materials you can not expect them to last a long time. The elements and Mother Nature are you worth enemy, and the biggest culprit for damage is from moisture. That is why it is well worth your money to invest in higher quality bar stools that are made to withstand moisture damage. This includes bar stool frames that are made from brass, aluminum, or stainless steel. As a side benefit, these metallic frames give bar stools a contemporary look that is quite appealing and will make any outdoor entertainment area look sharp.
Let us now consider the type of materials that are available. Wooden stools are traditional and look classy. They usually give the room a warmer feel because of the natural materials they are made of. However, unless they are made from pressure treated wood, they are not a good choice for outside use. You need to be very selective in the types of wood you select for you patio to ensure that they last well over time. Aluminum really is the optimal choice for a bar stool frame when it is used for outdoor patios. Aluminum is rugged, will not rust, and light weight, and all of these features are ideal to use outside. They can be left out in direct sunlight, or in the rain, and you will never have to worry about them falling apart due to the elements.
One last item to consider is the seating cushion. Here you also need to consider how it will hold up to outside conditions. Materials like cloth or leather look great inside the house, but for outside use they quickly get ruined. It is for this reason that you need to consider purchasing cushions that are made from synthetic materials. Taking this last issued into consideration will be important when you make your outdoor bar stool selection.
If you are thinking about adding some furniture to your outdoor patio entertainment center than then you should consider purchasing aluminum bar stools.

Do wood fence posts need to be set in concrete if the fence is small, and not in the wind?I am building a bamboo fence on my patio, only about 6-7' long, 5' high. I am doing a picture frame with split bamboo in the center. I am planning to have two end posts and one in the middle. It is really more cosmetic than anything (covering up an AC unit). Do I have to pour cement around the posts, or is there an easier way? Also, with such a small fence, how deep do I need to dig to install the posts? All advice is welcome, I have never built a fence before and want to keep this as simple as possible. Thanks!
With a 5' high fence you certainly need to set them in concrete. Posts are 5' 6' and 8' you wiil require 8' posts 3' of which will be in the grounds. It wouldn't last 5 mins otherwise. You would probably get away with it on a 3' high fence.
