Bamboo Bambusa Oldhamii
I want to plant these two types of bamboos in my backyard?
Do you know about these two types of bamboos, which is better, and why? By the bye, I live in Los Angeles.
1) Bambusa vulgaris 'vittata'...its common name is "painted bamboo"
2) Bambusa oldhamii....its common name is "giant timber bamboo , old ham's bamboo"
IMHO, bambusa vulgaris vittata is the better choice, it's not too invasive. However, if I were you, I'd buy a really big pot to plant these in, just to be sure that you won't have control issues later down the road.
